Legacy Corps San Diego

UM Legacy Corps Home Page

Legacy Corps, San Diego is a contracted site of the University of Maryland Program through the Corporation for National and Community Service AmeriCorps Program.

We provide trained and screened volunteers who can provide military and veteran families with respite care for their caregivers and companionship for their loved ones.

Are you a veteran or a caregiver?

Legacy Corps can provide free companion visits. Here are the steps:

1.  A staff member of County Health & Human Services will schedule and complete a home visit.

2.  You choose the best times when you need a break.

3.  We will seek and try to match a Legacy Corps volunteer in your area.

4.  The Legacy Corps member will visit regularly on the agreed schedule.

Interested in being a Legacy Corps Volunteer?

Legacy Corps members have an excellent opportunity to acquire new job skills, help the community, and even receive funding for their education. Volunteers must go through a background check and complete 450 hours of service in a year. They receive a monthly living allowance of $200 and an educational award of $1527 at the successful completion of the 12 month service term.

If this sounds like an opportunity that interests you, we would love to have you aboard.
