Are you a Veteran or caring for someone who is?
Caregivers, often a spouse or family member are often on the job "24/7" with little time to take care of their own needs. Legacy Corps Companion Visits are designed to provide relief and reduce stress and burden. There is no cost for service. For more information about this free service, contact our office.
Would you like to help Veterans?
The Legacy Corps Program is currently recruiting volunteers to provide a companionship break to our community’s hidden heroes: caregivers of military and veteran families. By providing friendly visits, ranging from 4 to 10 hours per week, our volunteers help caregivers take a necessary break which significantly decreases caregiver burden and stress.
Volunteers are asked to commit to one year of service, totaling 450 hours. In return, Legacy Corps Volunteers receive a monthly taxable living allowance in the amount of $200 and a $1527 Educational Award. This educational award can be used for tuition or student loans (or is transferable to children and grandchildren, as long as volunteer is 55 years or older).
Legacy Corps is also looking for the family caregivers in need of a non-medical respite services. If you are a caregiver, and your family is military or veteran connected, please contact Legacy Corps for more information on FREE companionship respite visits. Call 858-505-6305 or 858-505-6300.
